Cotton Patch Rag
Fiddle Level Six
Cotton Patch Rag — “Cotton Patch Rag” seems to have evolved in Texas from the primordial soup of old-time fiddling, ragtime, and early jazz. It is a contest staple and show piece that has proven continually to reinvent itself for each generation. My arrangement of “Cotton Patch Rag” is influenced by the late J.T. Perkins of Arab, Alabama.
“Cotton Patch Rag” presents quite a stiff challenge with its heavy use of double and triple stops and difficult string crossings.
