Kentucky Waltz — Bill Monroe composed and recorded this masterpiece back in the 1946 with Chubby Wise on fiddle.  It became a major hit for Monroe on the Country and Western charts, topping at number three, but fiddlers quickly adopted and adapted it, and it has been a standard at contests for decades.
